World War Two Romance, Kriegsmarine radio operator Richard Toepfera collection of medals, awards, photographs, and ephemera, letters to his wife Charlotte, includes Iron Cross 2nd Class, Spanish Cross, War Merit Cross with swords, Bronze Sports medal 1938, cloth National Emblems, also citations for Karl-Heinz Dicks and War Merit Cross with swords, post war photographs and papers.
Richard was married to Charlotte, during the last months of the war she met a British tommy Alan Longfellow, and fell in love. He wanted to bring her back to England but she remained faithful to her husband who returned from internment camp. Richard died in 1957 and Charlotte was once again reunited with Alan and they married in 1959, they had no children.
